Pet Licensing

Dogs and cats are required to be licensed in the City of Horicon. The license must be obtained before April 1st for the current calendar year of January 1st to December 31st. An additional $10 penalty is added if animals are not licensed by March 31st of the current license year.

A certificate of rabies vaccination is required as well as proof of spay or neuter if applicable.

License Prices

  • Un-neutered Male dogs or cats: $30
  • Un-spayed Female dogs or cats: $30
  • Neutered Male dogs or cats: $10
  • Spayed Female dogs or cats: $10


Licensing by Mail

Anyone wishing to license their dog or cat by mail will need documentation from your veterinarian showing date of rabies vaccination and whether your dog or cat is spayed or neutered, along with a postage-paid, self-addressed envelope. We will return the veterinarian documentation with the license to you.


Payment Drop Box Located Outside of City Hall
All Pet Licensing information along with Payment and Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope can be placed in the Payment Drop Box located in front of City Hall when City Hall is Closed.


Please Note: The owner or person in charge of any dog or other animal shall not permit solid fecal matter of such animal to deposit on any street, alley, or other public or private property unless such matter is immediately removed therefrom by said owner or person in charge.
